A runner is dead after being struck by lightning in southeastern Kansas.

Officials say 33-year-old Thomas Stanley of Andover was competing in the FlatRock 50k at Elk City State Park on Saturday when he was struck by lightning near the finish line.

Stanley died from his injuries.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Stanley’s family.
