The Sacred Heart Girls Cross Country team took home the Regional Title on Saturday, competing at the 2A Buhler Regional hosted at Prairie Ridge Cross Country Park.

Sacred Heart was lead by top-finisher Gracy Dorzweiler, who finished third as an individual with a time of 21:27.3. Mia Hamilton finished just behind Dorzweiler in fifth place, sporting a 21:47.5 time. Lauryn Mikkelson would finish in 12th, and Bethany Campa 14th, with Eva Matteucci, Caroline Stone, and Libby Kierscht finishing 16th, 17th, and 19th respectively.

A handful of other local schools had individual athletes compete, but did not tally team scores. Ell-Saline’s Lily Salazar finished in 10th place. Lincoln’s Olivia Dail finished 11th. The full individual results are below.

As a team, Sacred Heart totaled 38 points, an 11 point cushion from runner-up Sterling High School. Now, the Lady Knights will advance their entire Varsity team to compete at 2A State held at the Wamego Country Club on Saturday.

The Bennington Bulldogs boys Cross Country team qualified for state in Wamego as well, as they finished Regional Runners-Up to Hutchinson Trinity.

Ell-Saline had the top two finishers in the race as Carson Fouard and Garrison Zerger finsihed 1-2. Fouard won the race with a time of 16:50.7.
