An elderly Saline County woman contacted the Sheriff’s Office Wednesday after having a conversation on the phone with a scam artist.

She told Sheriff Glen Kochanowski that the caller said he was an FBI agent and needed the woman to send him $4,300 to pay for her grandson’s bail who was being held at the jail.

The woman hung up and quickly called her grandson to find out he was at home and okay.

She called Sheriff Kochanowski in hopes of spreading the story to warn the public about scheme.
