The Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation is giving $50,000 to Salina charitable organizations. According to the company, year-end grants totaling $50,000 are in addition to other community investments made by the foundation and Schwan’s Company in the Salina area this past year.
Those receiving the new grants include:
- Salina Area United Way is receiving $25,000 for its annual campaign.
- Salina Emergency Aid/Food Bank is receiving $10,000 to support its efforts to help folks in need.
- Ashby House is receiving $10,000 to support its efforts.
- Child Advocacy & Parenting Services is receiving $5,000 to support CASA volunteers and advocacy services.
“On behalf of our board of directors, we’re delighted to support these charitable organizations and their efforts to support those in need in the Salina area,” said Dimitrios Smyrnios, chairman of the Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation and chief executive officer of Schwan’s Company. “Our foundation, company and employees are passionate about partnering with Salina’s leading community and civic organizations to help impact people’s lives in positive ways.”
Together, Schwan’s Corporate Giving Foundation and Schwan’s Company seek to support efforts that impact hunger, youth leadership and building healthier communities where our employees work and live. The company has operated a pizza-production facility in Salina since 1970 (making pizzas under the Tony’s®, Red Baron® and Schwan’s® brands) and also operates a distribution facility focused on delivering premium-quality foods to homes.
Earlier this fall, the foundation granted $9,500 to Salina Park & Rec to support scholarships for children otherwise unable to afford Salina Park & Rec programming. And in February, Schwan’s Company announced a 15-year, $1.2 million contract supporting the Tony’s Pizza Event Center.
