The Smoky Valley Vikings split a pair of games at home against 5-0 Halstead.
In girls action, a 10-10 first quarter quickly changed as Halstead outscored the Vikings 34-12 in quarters two and three to win going away 57-28.
Williams hit six threes as she totaled 24 points for the game. Freshman Gerber added 15.
In the nightcap, the Vikings led early 3-2 and not again until 49-48 with 10 seconds left as Nick Reinert hit a three-pointer with 1:06 left to tie the game at 48-all, then added one of two free throws. The Vikings stopped Halstead’s final shot to preserve the 49-48 victory.
Reinert led the Vikings with 24 points and Jacob Adams added 17 as Smoky improved to 3-2. Halstead lost for the first time in 2017 falling to 5-1.
