The Salina South Boys and Girls Basketball Teams traveled to Goddard Eisenhower and came home with a split. The boys won 67 – 63, while the girls lost 63 – 35.
In the boys game scored first and jumped out to an early lead. By halftime South lead 37 – 27. The lead was still 9 to begin the fourth quarter when Goddard Eisenhower went on a 6 – 0 run to quickly pull within three. South would not fade though, and down the stretch hit some timely free throws to hang on for the win. Three Cougars finished in double figures scoring including Devon Junghans with 20 points, Elex Banks with 19, and Colin Schreiber with 10 points.

South climbs to 7 -9 while Goddard Eisenhower falls to 10 – 7.
In the girls game South struggled dealing with Goddard Eisenhower’s pressure defense and quickly fell behind big. Fueled by red-hot shooting the Tigers built a 25 – 5 lead by the end of the first quarter then cruised the rest of the way. Lauren Raubenstine lead South in scoring with 8 points, while Gretchen Cox had 6 and Mariah Janda had 5.
Goddard Eisenhower climbs to 8 – 9 while South falls to 5 – 12.
