South Thespians Earn Honors

Salina South’s Thespian Troupe received several honors at the 2019 Kansas State Thespian Festival.

South’s Thespians once again received a Gold Honor Troupe award for successfully completing the set of criteria, which includes community service activities, fund-raisers, touring productions, and other activities. Drama Club officers Kaylee Warren, Leighton Cline, & Jacob Sweet put together our Honor Troupe application and President Kaylee Warren presented it during the Honor Troupe interview.

Kaylee Warren and Whitney Turner served as State Board members – helping to organize and run the conference. Courtney White was an alternate member.
Whitney Turner was a cast member in the All-State cast production of the musical BRING IT ON, which was performed at the state festival. The production received the honor of being invited to perform on the mainstage this summer at the International Thespian Festival.

Throughout the festival, students attended workshops and performances, while also participating in college auditions, Individual Events, and Late-Night theatre activities. The Kansas Thespian Festival is a highlight of the school year for theatre students across the state.

The Kansas Thespian Festival is a wonderful educational opportunity for theatre students across the state. Approximately 2,200 attended this year’s conference; participating in workshops, performances and a variety of activities.

The Kansas Thespians organization was established to support the Educational Theatre Association’s student honorary, ?International Thespian Society. Kansas Thespians is a chapter of the Educational Theatre Association.
