After being moved  into a nursing home, Shirley Hopkins’ son has been checking up on her house on the 800 block of Ellsworth.

There had been no problems with the residence since Shirley left it, until last Friday. Shirley’s son went to go check on her home like he usually did, but this time he noticed the screen cover on a garage window had been cut.

After further investigating the abnormality, the son found that his mother’s $8,000 gray Pontiac Vibe had been stolen.

Police are investigating the case.
