A Texas man was taken into custody following a beating in the parking lot of a bar west of Salina.

Captain Jim Hughes of the Sheriff’s Office told KSAL news deputies responded to an altercation in the parking lot  at The Shady Lady, located at 1540 W. Old Highway 40, at 1:48 AM on Saturday.

Ethan Smith (28) from Saur Lake TX, and Clifford Bowles (33) from Salina got into a heated argument. Eventually the verbal disagreement became physical, Smith then went to his vehicle and got his expanding police grade baton then proceed to hit Bowels over the head.

Bowles has multiple marks and abrasions on his head and a cut above an inside his lip but, refused treatment.

Ethan Smith was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Battery and Criminal Use of Weapon.
