An opportunistic thief drove off with an SUV which was left running in front of a central Salina home.

Police say the owner of a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse started the vehicle to let it warm up in a front of her home at 305 Lamar Street at 5:45 Thursday morning. The vehicle was stolen after she went back inside to get her daughter ready to go.

Inside the SUV was a purse and its contents including $250 in cash and credit cards. At least one of the cards was later used in Wichita.

The SUV has Kansas license plate 328 LHX on it.

Total loss is placed at around $6,500.
