The Hugoton Eagles took third place over the Smoky Valley Vikings in the Sterling Invitational Tournament by the score of 52-44. The Eagles led 13-11 after one, and 23-20 at the half. They went on a 10-0 run to start the 3rd quarter to stretch their lead to 13, but the Vikings would battle back and in the 4th quarter would get it as close as two 44-42 with 3 minutes remaining. But the Vikings couldn’t get the push they needed and fell 44-52. Blake Heble had 11 points for the Vikings, and Cade Schneider added 10. Vikings will be in action Tuesday at home against Hutch Trinity.
