Forecasters are preparing for likely severe weather this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, there is a severe weather threat on both Saturday and Sunday. Exceptionally powerful thunderstorms are likely from late Saturday afternoon thru Monday night.
The greatest area of concern on Saturday is West Central Kansas into Southwest Nebraska, where severe thunderstorms are anticipated. The primary threat is large hail, but tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Sunday the prime location is Southeast Kansas, mainly East of the Kansas Turnpike. If things come together earlier, though, severe weather could develop a little further to the west, along and east of Interstate 135.
Forecasters say that the areas of impact could still shift. They urge citizens to pay attention to the changing forecast.
